TGWKE’s Favorite Music Videos of All Time
Or the ones that came to mind first..
In no order, they are:
1.Fatboy Slim- Weapon of Choice (2000)
Christopher Walken becomes Christopher Dancin’.
2.Moby – Run On
You might want to watch this one twice.
3. Radiohead
Picking just *one* favorite from Radiohead was a toughie. I had to include at least two videos:
- Just (1995)
- Karma Police (1997)
4. David Bowie (ft. NIN)- I’m Afraid of Americans (1997)
I wouldn’t mind getting chased down the street by Trent Reznor. Just saying.
5. Gnarls Barkley- Going on (2008)
Would you?
6.Pink Floyd- Arnold Layne (1967)
A normal English afternoon, I suppose.
7. Coldplay:
- The Scientist (2005)
Chris Martin had to learn to sing the song backwards for the video. Imagine that!
Fun fact: The video was directed by Jamie Thraves, same person who did Radiohead’s Just.
- God Put a Smile upon Your Face (2005)
Another great one by the band everyone loves to hate.
8-The Beatles- I Am The Walrus (1967)
Favorite Beatles song. One hell of an acid trip.
9. Julia Boutros – Shee Ghareeb (1997)
If you’re a Magritte fan, then you’re in for a treat!
10. Oren Lavie – Her Morning Elegance (2009)
Words cannot do this video justice.
11. Daft Hands – Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (2007)
Things I learned in 2007: Sharpie ink doesn’t come off easily.
12.Kate Bush Wuthering Heights (1978)
Don’t act like you never did this dance before.
13.David Bowie & Mick Jagger – Dancing In The Street (1985)
It’s like a train wreck. You just can’t look away.
14. Bob Dylan- Subterranean Homesick Blues (1965)
He made this for you, and he wants you to appreciate it.
15. OK GO- White Knuckles (2010)
Epic dog highfive at 2:29.
16. Sting- Russians (1985)
In Soviet Russia, Soviet Russia jokes are stil not funny.
17. Incubus – Drive (2000)
If M. C. Escher’s “Drawing Hands” was made into a music video
18. The Kinks – Dead End Streets (1966)
19. The Animals – House of the Rising Sun (1964)
20. The Robots – Kraftwerk (1977)
Way ahead of its time. This band got so much emotion.
Honorable Mention Goes To:
The Beatles- You Got to Hide Your Love Away (1965)
Gnarls Barkley- Crazy (2006)
M.I.A- Galang (2006)
Johnny Flynn – Kentucky Pill (2010)
Pink Floyd- See Emily Play (1967)
Paul Simon- You Can Call Me Al (1986)
The Cure – Friday I’m In Love (1993)
A Flock Of Seagulls – I Ran (So Far Away) (1982)
Now tell me, what are your favorites?
A very intriguing collection. I’m going to make a playlist out of these songs. Not familiar with too many of them, but I have been interested in some of these artists, so these give me a good starting point. I’d love it if you made lists of your top 5 songs from your favorite bands/artists.
I would list some of my favorite music videos, but I fear they’re not sophisticated enough for this forum…
Please blog more, as I really enjoy it when you do.
Julia Boutros was my favorite growing up! Her songs were simply beautiful and graceful.
I second Sarah, you must post more often.
